Position Overview

The PET / Nuc Med Tech is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for patient assessment relative to the performance of Nuclear Medicine procedures to include PET imaging; promotes radiation safety for self and patients; demonstration of safe and effective patient care.  Preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and the performance of scanning procedures for both in-patients and outpatients, working under the supervision of a Board Certified Radiologist.

Demonstrates competence in performing all the duties of the nuclear medicine technologist.

Ability to participate in the call rotation if needed. Starts IV’s as needed for NM/PET patients.

Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary. Maintains requirements for licensure/certification within timeframes established by regulatory agency. CPR Certified.

 

Key Position Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Licensed in the State of Pennsylvania required
  • ARRT or NMCT registered with minimum of one year experience performing nuclear medicine scans with preference in PET imaging
  • CPR Certification Required
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.  Must have excellent knowledge of all aspects of nuclear medicine and PET imaging.
  • Makes recommendations for process changes.
  • Contact service vendors for preventive maintenance or repairs.
  • Utilizes knowledge and skills to provide quality and timely service.
